Northern NY Preview (July 11, 2018)

Noftsier is solid 5-foot-9 180 pound middle infielder with a strong lower half. He ran a 7.17 60 and a 4.53 home-to-1B. Offensively- Sets up slightly open and spread; quiet take back of the hands with minimal stride. Hands sweep through the zone with minimal lower half rotation; stays on the ball with line drive results to his pull side. Exit velocity was 65 MPH but will bump up when the lower half gets more involved. Defensively- Stays on the balls of his feet; flashed some range to his glove side and back hand with a quick release, short arm action. More of a flipping action at 67 MPH across the diamond. 

A freshman with a slender frame, Noftsier unseated an incumbent starter at third base in the closing weeks of the season for Beaver River (11-5). Shows poise at hot corner, showing lateral glove side range with accurate throws; covers ground on the slow roller. Occasional double clutch on difficult throws. Can handle fastball middle in, turning on one in a clutch RBI scenario.
