Frank Rega: C/1B, (2022) out of West Islip, NY. is a solid, athletic 5-foot-9, 160-pound prospect. At the plate, the right-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 89 MPH, with a (66.72 mph bat speed average) and (21.82 mph hand speed average). Rega starts in a balanced, athletic stance with the hands set just off the back shoulder. A small load triggers a swing that takes an uphill path through a high finish. In the infield, his best throw was 74 MPH across the diamond, while showing sure hands, a clean exchange and consistent feet. Behind the plate, his best throw downs reached 73 MPH, with a pop time of 2.08. His initial stance is athletic, with the glove centered in the middle of the chest. As he transitions to throw, he shows athletic feet, soft hands, and a clean transfer. During the event, Rega ran the 60-yard dash in 8.0.
Physical: 5’9 160 C ran an 8.12 laser timed 60-yard dash. Thin frame has room to add size and strength to improve output numbers overall.
Offensively: He starts with a wide base and his hands high around his head. He uses a short leg lift and a simple hand waggle to begin his timing mechanism. He stays tight in his swing and has the ability to keep his body controlled throughout the swing. His barrel path works down through the ball before finishing high on his follow through.
Defensively: he receives from a traditional squatted stance and shows some hip mobility as he sways laterally with the pitch. His glove to hand transfer is clean and works in a straight line as he replaces his feet and makes the throw to the base.
Physical: 5-foot-9, 160-pounds. Strong athletic frame. 8.12 runner in the 60; 4.75 home-to-1B.
Offensively: RHH. Tall upright stance, feet shoulder width apart, hands head high with bat hanging behind his back, simple load action Upward barrel path, elongated swing, hands get through the zone, one handed finish. Up the middle approach. 78 MPH raw exit velocity.
Defensively: 2.13-2.29 pop times. Low to the ground setup, gains ground with pop step. Transfer has a slight delay between glove and hand, but the actions are quick. Long arm swing, 3/4 arm slot. C - 70 MPH.
