2022 MLB Draft: Offensive catcher with an advanced approach at the plate. Strong performance in the MLB Draft League. Squares the ball up consistently and has the ability to drive the ball to all fields. Tracks the ball well and catches up to high velo. Plus power potential. Solid defensive package with first step quickness and can frame pitches. Throws have some carry with a quick release and the ability to keep the running game in check. With some adjustments defensively can be an everyday catcher. Explosive bat speed and leveraged swing give Sosa present game power that plays well to the big parts of the park, and he's capable of shortening up to make opposite-field contact. Defense behind the plate has a ways to go, but he's a lean athlete with natural tools and a solid arm.
10/24/17
Well above average release with the majority of his pop times in the 1.91-1.95 range. Athletic frame and actions as evidenced when working out in the infield. Short, compact stroke in the box. Contact/line drive approach.
