Eastern NY Prospect Preview (August 2, 2016)
Simonetty is an athletic 5-foot-8, 155 pound middle infielder who ran a 7.49 60.  Offensively- Simonetty sets up in a spread stance with his weight slightly over his front side during his pre-pitch. Slight rock of the weight back with minimal separation of the hands off the body. Short, compact stroke with hands staying inside contact. Additional lower aggression will only help contribute to his exit velocity of 82 MPH. Middle of the field results; line drive approach; table setter tendencies.   Defensively- Stays on the balls of his feet; low to the ground approach; stays active throughout. Hands out in front; quick transfer with low ¾ arm slot. Uses a secondary shuffle which creates a delay in his release; more of a 2B habit that would need to be eliminated if on the left side of the infield. Adequate next level arm from the left side, above average for second base. Was 81 MPH across the diamond with ease.
New England College Showcase (June 23, 2016)
Simonetty checks in at 5-foot-8; 155 pounds. He ran a 4.8 on the home-to-1B; Offensively- The swing is simple and he stays inside the ball very well at contact. The no stride approach allows him to stay in position as he barreled up balls throughout the 3 rounds. Tee exit velocity of 82 MPH and . Defensively- More than likely a second baseman, he threw 75 MPH across the diamond, showing a solid glove and a feel for the position. Improving his foot speed will help over the long term.
