New York Games (June 27-29, 2016)
Winkle sits in at 5-foot-7; 135 pounds with a slender athletic frame. Runs well and put up a 7.07 – 60 time at NYS Games. Offensively-Sets up square to the plate with a good base and hands in front of back shoulder.  On pitch his trigger is a step forward with his hands moving back slightly into a good hitting position. Quick hands to the hitting zone with good bat action through to a high two handed finish. Keeps head still through whole swing and has good rotation on bottom half. Simple effective swing. Recorded an exit velocity of 82 mph which is a 6 mph improvement from November 2015. Defensively-Good approach and footwork to the baseball. Fielding technique is fluid with a good transfer. Footwork to target could quicken with a more aggressive movement. Recorded a position player velocity of 76 mph.
Last Chance Preview (November 29, 2015)
Jared is a slight, yet athletic 5-foot-7 140 pound infielder. He ran a respectable 4.35 home to 1B and had an exit velocity of 76 MPH. Offensively- Jared starts from and an even and balanced stance with bat barrel flat and just above shoulder. Uses a controlled load with a slight but controlled wrap. Gains some ground on stride but stays back, staying aggressive with lower half. Short and compact stroke into the zone, keeping barrel level. Quick recoil with finish, would like to see increased extension and weight transfer. Line drive results with repeatable efforts. Defensively- Projects well up the middle with a consistent funneling motion into a short arm action with accurate throws. Peak INF velocity was 71 MPH with more in the tank. Tends to sit back some and let the ball work to him. Increased arm strength and an additional aggression with approach will allow him to be flexible at other positions.
