McClellan has a wiry and athletic build at 6-foot-1, 160-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.31 seconds and recorded an exit velo of 89 MPH. At the plate, starts in a wide and even stance with his weight shifted back. Hands begin right above his shoulder and move directly backwards during his load. Present pre-pitch rhythm. Small leg kick, stays on time. Hands explode through the zone, advanced ability to barrel inside pitches. Some pull side power present. In the infield, recorded a top velo of 78 MPH on throws across the diamond. Athletic movements to the ball. Makes his transfer away from his body. Changes his arm slot depending on the play he needs to make. On the mound, McClellan starts toward the first base side of the rubber with his feet angled towards the foul line. Starts his windup slow, with some clear deception in the second half of his delivery. Uphill shoulder tilt. Stride direction stays in line. Strong front side throughout. Throws with clear intent. FB was consistently located to both sides of the plate at 77-79 MPH. CB at 66-67 MPH had some bigger 1/7 shape. Maintains his intent on his CH, showed some run at 68-71 MPH. Impressive SL at 66-68 MPH which showed some late horizontal action at times.

7/22/20

Physical: Lean and athletic 6-foot-1, 160-pound frame with above-average feel for his body. 7.30 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH. Open, balanced stance with plenty of controlled rhythm at the shoulder pre-load. Utilized a leg-hang stride with some lower half glide coupled with a shoulder turn inward as the load mechanism to initiate his swing. The barrel worked through a smooth, slightly uphill path creating hard contact to the pull-side with regularity during batting practice. When the hands showed intent to get through extension, saw his best swings of the round with natural lift to the middle of the field while hitting into a stiff front side. Recorded a top bat-exit velocity of 90 mph according to Trackman Baseball.

Defensively: The primary middle infielder arrived to the baseball with a low center of gravity and showcased quick first step decisions in the routes. Stopped momentum and stood up at the fielding window losing extra downhill drive towards the target on the next step. A soft glove hand worked low to the ground in the middle of the body scooping up balls inside the body. INF - 74 mph
