Comments

6/30/21

Physical: Durable, projectable 5-foot-11, 185lb frame with strength carried. 7.77 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH - Wider, balanced stance as the feet started outside shoulder-width; quicker hand rhythm at the shoulder, initiating the bat head through a flat path after a short lift and replace stride. Whippy barrel actions that played advantageously to the pull-side with ability to turn quickly in the lower half. Produced a 33% line drive rate and matched pitch-plane when thrown above the belt, working up to a T83 mph bat-exit velocity at his peak (via Trackman). Approached a 300 foot batted ball distance (293 feet max) with occasional doubles power when getting extended.

Defensively: The primary backstop showcased a traditional stance in the crouch, using an adequate glove hand at the catch. Pop times ranged from 2.02-2.08 with calm, replaceable feet and a laser of an arm with good separation at a H ¾ slot. Powerful thrower up to a 77 mph arm strength to the arm-side of the bag.

2/18/21

Physical: Strong, well proportioned 5-foot-10, 185-pound frame. 7.68 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH. Balanced, slightly open stance with circular rhythm from a traditional placement in hands above the shoulder. Utilized a short lift and replace stride to initiate through a flat path into the hitting zone, handled the pitch up and out over the plate well, doing the most damage during his round. Peppered the LCF gap with authority in the approach, stayed behind the ball from a medium-high posture giving way to an 85 mph bat-exit velocity and near 270 foot batted ball distance per Trackman Baseball.

Defensively: The primary backstop featured developing skills behind the plate with a soft glove hand at the catch point (traditional crouch). Pop times ranged from 2.26-2.34 with time to gather himself before unleashing a long, high ¾ release towards the target (79 mph). With quicker in and out actions in the catch-and-throw phase with the sacrifice of some arm strength, Scarpulla could hover more likely around 2.15-2.20.

9/19/20

Physical: Strong, athletic 5-foot-9, 165-pound frame with feel for his body. 7.63 runner in the 60-yard dash. Offensively: RHH. Crouched, open stance with the knees bent into a low setup, the hands started with quick rhythm at the shoulder. Utilized a short and quick, lift and replace stride while never quite getting back even at footstrike, landed slightly open and narrow while jolting the hands through a flat barrel path and into the hitting zone; got negative at times on the attack angle. Short hands worked from A to B towards the baseball and created leverage when the arms could get extended through impact. Hit into a stiff front side with weight shift creating a mostly pull-side approach during batting practice, recorded a peak bat-exit velocity of 82 mph per Trackman Baseball / 36% line drive rate during his round. Defensively: The primary backstop featured a feel for adequate receiving abilities using a soft glove hand at the catch point. Medium-low setup in the crouch and pop times ranged from 2.26-2.34 with controlled and directional footwork while holding posture well, average transfers from glove hand to throwing ear and an accurate high ¾ slot on the release out of a medium arm circle. Beat the ball to the spot while blocking with downward chest angles / buried the glove hand early with recovery ability. C - 75 mph
