Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Lean frame standing 5-foot-10, 160-pounds with room for growth, ran a 7.04 60-yard dash showing athleticsim. 78 mph arm-strength with carry to the bag, lower half moves well around the bag, quick tight arm action. In the box hes got an open stance, barrel stayed mostly level through contact with slight lift on his finish, 87 mph exit velocity showing signs of power projection, gap-to-gap in BP.
Preseason - West (February 19, 2018)
Shows high-end athleticism evidenced by his 6.95 60-yard dash on lasers. Offensively- At the plate uses an open stance, back load for timing, strides back to even on the pitch. Barrel path is slightly uphill with a full finish, 84 MPH exit velocity off a tee. Defensively- Gets to the ball with a slightly wide stance, some choppiness as he gets to the ball, glove is out front with a quick transfer, releases the ball from a high 3/4 lot 76 MPH arm strength across the diamond.
Campus Series-Canisius (July 5, 2017)
Marasco stands in at 5-foot-10, 155-pounds with a lean athletic frame. Ran a 4.48 home to first. Offensively- Righty sets up slightly open with his feet just outside shoulder width. Shows a slight knee bend with an upright torso holding the bat just above the back shoulder using little pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch, his trigger is a stride forward squaring up with the pitcher while his hands move back into the hitting position. Cuts off his lower body rotation by having a short turn on the back foot. More aggressive rotation with the back knee and foot will allow him to generate more power in the swing. Shows quick hands into the hitting zone with a level barrel path throughout into a high two-handed finish. Demonstrated line drive ability up the middle and to the pull side during batting practice round. Recorded an exit velocity of 81 MPH. Defensively- Good approach and footwork to the baseball. Good fielding mechanics with his funnel into the chest and transition to the throwing hand. Takes good aggressive footwork towards intended target and moves well left/right and in on the run. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 78 MPH. Overall a good 2019 grad prospect to keep an eye on for continued development.
