Wietsma is a well put together backstop at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds. Offensively- Kevin hits from an even stance with hands off the back shoulder and a 45 degree bat angle. Rocks weight onto back leg with a small leg kick. Strong lower half and good balance swing to swing. Levels out early in the zone with line drive hard groundball results. Improved extension will allow him to take advantage of his size and continue to drive through the ball. Overly patient at the plate, would like to see him be more aggressive and get his pitch at the right point. Defensively- Soft receiver that's fundamental in the dirt. Exchanges feet quickly, gaining ground in a positive fashion. Quick  transfer and release, throws stay on the bag. Fundamentally sound on both sides of the ball. 2.00 pop-time from an above average, 76 mph arm.
