Stands 6-foot-0,183 pounds with an athletic body build.  Defensively - In the infield, he has a smooth approach through the ball, with smooth, soft, quick hands, throws with an athletic arm action, strong across the diamond, gets body through the ball. Offensively - At the plate his setup quiet, balanced (Slightly open stance), short leg lift stride, with a back load.  He really drives his hands and hips to the baseball, short path, swinging on a level plane through the zone using long/full extension through the ball and a shoulder height finish.  With exit velo, he displays a lot of power.

In the 3 weeks since the PBR -NY games, Ferriero has increased both his infield arm strength and exit velocity. Matthew is a very solid 6-foot-0, 185-pounds.  He showed good range to both sides and his arm strength was at 82mph.  He looks like a college 3rd basemen and may have to make that transition at the next level, yet he's very smooth.  His transfers are clean, to a loose flowing arm action.  Very relaxed approach at the plate, contact/line drive hitter.  Starts slightly open with a smooth but short load and stride.  Stays level and balanced through contact.  Could increase power by counter rotating slightly, as his front hip stays slightly open.  All things said, a very solid player all around, should be someone to watch in the near future.
