Ulrich is a 5-foot-10, 175 pound OF/RHP with an athletic frame. He ran a 7.30 60. Offensively- Sets up open with weight pre-loaded over back side, bat at 45 degree angle. Short, controlled load with front side down early. Aggressive lower half with balance, staying behind the ball. Accelerates through the zone with some pop from the LF line to CF. Line drive/gap results. Exit velocity peaked at 78 MPH but plays better than that. Defensively- Aggressive with his approach in the OF. Quick exchange from glove to hand; throws are online with carry. Taking an extra step to settle into his crowhop may produced even stronger throws; projects well in the corner OF positions. Pitching- Sets up tight with his feet on the glove side of the rubber; short drop step/pivot up into a compact knee high balance point. Arm action stays long and clean through a high ¾ arm slot. FB featured some sink/heaviness at 78-80 MPH; CB had to 12-to-6 shape with some late teeth. Attacks the zone and works at an uptempo pace. Possible next level dual position player at the right program.
