Unsigned Senior (October 21, 2017)
Poag stands in at 5-foot-10, 185-pounds. Ran a 7.65 – 60. Offensively- Fluid trigger pre-pitch getting body set. Utilizes strong lower body rotation getting whole frame involved in the swing. Has a quick level barrel path showing line drive potential up the middle and to the pull side. Recorded an exit velocity of 81 MPH, a 3 MPH improvement from his best recorded mark set in November 2016. Defensively- Good footwork and approach to the ball. Clean funnel into the chest with a quick transition to the throwing position. Moves well left/right and was accurate on throws. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 73 MPH, 2 MPH shy of his previous best set in November 2016.
November 16, 2016

Poag, a 2018 right-handed hitting middle infielder, stands at 5-foot-10 and weighs in at 179 pounds, ran a 7.39 60 matching a personal best. Offensively- Wide square crouched stance with the weight even, hands are above the shoulder with the barrel of the bat slightly more than 45-degrees. Initiates the swing with a straight up high leg kick while the weight shifts to the backside, barrel gets completely parallel and hands stay in strong position with leveled shoulders. During BP, showed an ability to drive the ball well to the middle of the field as well as from the pull side gap to the line. Swing stays pretty compact despite letting the front hip to dominate at times. Recorded an exit velocity of 78 MPH on the day, matching a personal best..  Defensively-   Starts from an athletic position using a hop prep step. Approaches the ball aggressively but with good body control. Fields the ball with the hands in front of the body, but feet to get a bit wide. Funnels the ball to the chest where separation occurs showing a quick transfer and traditional shorter arm action for an infielder. Arm velocity, which has continued to increase over the past few events, was recorded at a personal best of 75 MPH

Last Chance Preview (October 30, 2016)

Poag, a 2018 right-handed hitting middle infielder, stands at 5-foot-10 and weighs in at 179 pounds, ran a 7.41 60 but has been as quick as 7.39. Recorded an exit velocity of 75 MPH on the day, but has been as high as 78 MPH at previous events.   Defensively-   Starts from an athletic position using a hop prep step. NY All-Star Games (September 17, 2016)
Poag stands in at 5-foot-9, 171-pounds with a lean athletic frame. Ran a 7.30 – 60. Offensively- Sets up slightly closed with feet outside the shoulders. Upright body position with hands held above back shoulder with pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch his trigger is a knee raise into a stride forward to square up with the pitcher while his hands move slightly back into the hitting position. Quick hands to the hitting zone with a level bat path through the zone into a high two handed finish. Good rotation on lower half. More of a trigger with the hands would provide more torque in the swing. Middle to opposite field approach with mostly line drive results.  Recorded an exit velocity of 77 MPH. Defensively- Good footwork and approach to ball. Funnels ball in and transitions to throwing hand well with good movement left/right. Could use more aggressive movement towards throwing target. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 65 MPH.
