5-foot-8, 160-pounds, with above average foot-speed. Ran a 6.99-60 with a 4.39 home to 1st. Offensively- From the right side stands slightly open, has a slight foot plant. Quiet hands that start above shoulders. Slightly inclined barrel, fluid swing plane, finishes strong, swings with both hands. Defensively- Sound approach and footwork to the ball. Active movements in approach to ball. Mechanics of crow hop are fluid, fields the ball out front. Throws over the top, with natural outfield mechanics, arm strength shows signs of carry. Transfer is quick, clean and fluid, all in one motion. Outfield velocity was measured at 79 Mph. Keep an eye on him this summer shows above average potential.
Last Chance Preview (November 18, 2017)
Venuti stands in at 5-foot-8, 160-pounds with lean athletic frame. Ran a 6.84 – 60. Offensively- Lefty sets up square to the pitcher in a wide stance. Clean pre-pitch mechanics using a good trigger to get the hands back before exploding forward. Shows quick hands to the hitting zone with a level barrel path demonstrating solid contact up the middle and to the opposite field side. Hands are slightly long to the zone but makes up for it with strength and quickness. Will get better with more reps and a more direct barrel path to the ball. Recorded an exit velocity of 79 MPH. Defensively- Shows a good approach and footwork to the baseball. Clean and fluid crow hop mechanics with a good transfer from glove into the throwing position. Gains ground throughout the entire process of the throw with an appropriate outfielder arm swing. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 79 MPH. Talented prospect to keep an eye on at future events.
