Valentine sits in at 5-foot-10; 170 pounds with a strong, lean/athletic build. Primary position is a Catcher however can play the Outfield. Runs well, showcased a 6.90 – 60. Offensively-Set up square with the pitcher with a slight knee bend and 60/40 weight distribution with hands in front of back shoulder. On pitch trigger is a small step forward with hands moving back behind his shoulder in a good hitting position. Tends to straighten out lead arm before swinging, which causes his bat to drag. Still gets hands to hitting zone quick and shows decent potential with an 87 mph exit velocity. Two handed high finish. With better bat path and quicker bottom half rotation, could potentially add to exit velocity. Defensively-Good defensive position. Frames well and has a good catch and release. Blocks well. Tends to throw up hill to second but yet on the bag with throws; will get more consistent with more reps. Displayed a position player velocity of 74 mph with a top pop time of 2.03.
