Physical: 6-foot-5, 205 pounds; Broad shouldered, proportional build. 7.44 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; bat positioned at a 45 degree angle. Short take back with the hands with a toe-tap for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing a strong lower half. Showed a slight lift to the ball with a high finish. More line drives than flyballs and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 89 MPH via Trackman.
Defensively: Starts with an upright /tall setup; static during pre-pitch while sitting back. Hands are out in front with a clean transfer. Long arm swing from a high 3/4 arm slot. INF - 74 MPH.
Pitching: Mccarthy uses a glove side setup while using a side step. Mid chest leg drive with shoulders outside the hips. Has a long stride landing inline with the plate. Moderate arm swing while stabbing downward, while working through a high 3/4 slot. Spins off 1B side with finish. FB: Peak velo of 80 MPH, while sitting 76-79 MPH; life through the zone. CB: 67-68 MPH; showed depth. SL: 65-66 MPH; tilting break. CH: 65-67 MPH; runs.
