Bennet Gwin: C/3B, (2021) Dalton Local, OH. 5-foot-11, 180-pound physical frame. During batting practice, Gwin had an exit velocity of 88 mph. Begins in a balanced athletic stance with a quick load, then uses a short stride. Has a short upward swing plane, quick bat speed and high finish. Athletic while in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 82 mph; shows sure hands, consistent feet, and a clean exchange. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Behind the plate, he recorded a position velocity of 78 mph during throw downs; had a quick exchange, sure hands, and athletic footwork. Displayed his ability to control the run game with a pop time of 1.93-1.96. A lot of flexibility and athletic setup. Showed a short arm action with a high ¾ slot. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.55.
Hit:Solid showing in the box. Good athlete with a fast bat and heavy hands through contact. Consistently worked the middle of the field in BP, finding the barrel often. Like the combination of feel and burst.
Power:Flashed gap abilities.
Offensive Projection:Middle ceiling.
Field:What stands out about Gwin behind the dish right away is the arm strength, showing arm strength on the verge of 80mph back there. Expect pop times to continue to improve as actions speed up. Also worked out at third base. Plays under control throughout sequence. Ball skills are on par for class
