6/6/17 Very physical frame behind the plate. Showed flexibility in his hips and gets out of his crouch very well. Has obvious feel for the position with impressive arm strength. At the plate he starts in an athletic setup. Uses a leg kick to get things started, while taking his hands to launch. Path is slightly downhill to level and swing is compact. Swing has some stiffness to it, would like to see him loosen up. Gap to gap pop when he finds the barrel. 60-yard dash: 7.38 Catcher Velocity: 76 Pop Times: 2.06-2.16 Exit Velocity: 85
1/28/17
A physical right-handed swinger with a fast bat. Creates energy with his lower half through a double tap load and controlled stride. Hands move back to launch prior to taking a slightly downhill path to the ball. Ball gets off his bat well when he finds the barrel. Middle of the order skill set. Would like to see him loosen up hands to create more whip and better barrel direction. Defensively, he starts in a balanced stance with glove foot ahead. Shows some quickness in his feet with quick jab step. Keeps direction towards second base. Clean, quick transfers. Throws with short arm action through ¾ to high ¾ slot. Pop times were impressive in the 1.91 to 1.99 range with carry to his throws. One of the top catchers in Ohio’s 2019 class.
C Velocity: 80 Home to 1st: 4.56 Exit Velocity: 88
6/15/16 6-foot-3, 220 pound strong, projectable frame. His advanced strength shows up at and behind the plate. Starting in a tall, slightly open setup he gets decent use out of his lower half through a double tap load and short stride. Ball jumps off his bat. Has some stiffness to his swing. Reached a top exit velocity of 88 mph and ran a 4.89 from home to first. Impressive catch and throw skills behind the plate. Showed the ability to get in line or throw from his knees with accuracy. Receiving and blocking skills are there. Pop times ranged from 1.97-2.13 and he threw with 79 mph arm strength to second base.
6/30/15 6-foot-3, 190-pound athletic body frame. From the crouch he starts turned in his stance and needs to be squared up before he receives the baseball. He gets himself in line on his throws to second base and throws using a clean, short arm action coming from a high-¾ slot, using 73 mph velocity to produce pop times between 2.26-2.30. Right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and uses a toe tap for a timing mechanism to get back to being squared up to even. He loads with his hands moving fluidly back to his shoulder. Swings with a slightly upward bat path through the zone, finishing with a one-handed follow through. He showed power in his swing when he hit a homerun over the left field wall during his round of batting practice. Reached a top exit velocity of 80 mph and ran a 5.0 out of the box. He will be one to keep an eye out for as he continues to mature.
