2/23/20

2/23/20 Position Player
Hit: Open stance with a simple load to create timing. An uphill swing with line drives and good backspin to the back of the cage.
Power: Line drive pop.
Top BP Exit Velocity: 82 mph.
Top BP Distance: 284 ft.
Offensive Projection: Top of the lineup.
Field: A smooth athletic transfer behind the dish. Good body direction and accuracy.
Throw: POP between 2.09 - 2.19 and 75 mph from behind the plate.
Defensive Projection: C.

6/11/19

Body type:  6-foot-1, 170-pound thin frame.

Swing mechanics:  Small leg kick that works in sync with his hands.

Hit:  Showed the ability to work to all fields by getting inside the baseball.  Slight downhill bat path.

Power: Flashed pop to pull side during BP.  Will get more pop as he develops.

Offensive Projection:  To be determined.

Field:  Efficient feet with a quick and smooth transfer.

Throw:  Arm is currently faster than it is strong.  Will develop as he gets older.

Defensive Projection:  Catcher.

Additional Notes:  Quiet actions behind the dish with the ability to move side to side in order to block the baseball.

1/26/19

Body Type: 6-foot-1 170-pound prospect.

Swing Mechanics: At the plate he starts in a balanced setup and utilizes a toe tap load to initiate his swing. Shows a pretty flat bat path with minimal lift.

Hit: Good barrel control and above average bat to ball ability.

Power: 77 mph exit velocity.

Offensive Projection: Shows minimal lift to his swing coupled with average raw power. Skillset lends itself to being a player who is able to hit for solid average without many extra base hits.

Run: 4.57 home to 1st.

Field: 2.06-2.11 pop time. In the infield Knoop is very two handed and waits on the ball with average angles. Behind the plate he had big movements and a long arm action but showed overall solid athleticism.

Throw: 66 mph on throws to second from catcher and 63 mph across the diamond as an infielder.

Defensive Projection: Presently shows more projectability behind the plate at the next level.

1/27/18
6-foot-1, 165-pound prospect with lanky frame. At the plate, the right-handed hitter starts in an open stance. Initiates his lower half with a toe tap. Short, uphill path to the ball with top exit velocity of 79 mph. From third base, he showed a top velocity of 63 mph. Short arm action from ¾ slot. Footwork and glovework is average for his age at this stage.  Knoop catches from a narrow stance that could use some widening up to gain more stability. His transfer was fine, but can improve on quickness to be more efficient in getting rid of the ball as he recorded a 2.18 pop-time. Footwork needs some improvement on working the “T” getting aligned with second base and exploding through the plate on his throws which will only increase his accuracy and velocity from 68 mph.
