Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Body Type: Average frame for his age at 5-foot-11, 160-pounds.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Generated more velocity out of the stretch than windup. Better use of his lower half from the stretch position. Tends to be slow and tall/fall from the windup. Doesn’t incorporate much of an inward turn with his leg kick. But, initiates and fires with his lower half of the stretch.
Fastball: Jumped to 76-77 mph out of the stretch, but was only 71-72 mph out of the windup.
Curveball: Sat between 65-67 mph. Showed 11/5 break, but needs to develop consistent release point. Tended to be behind it at times generating flat movement up in the zone.
Summary: Likely projects best as an outfielder at this stage. Still shows raw skill set on the mound. Either needs to improve mechanics from the windup or stick to the stretch where he shows the most velocity and effectiveness. Bullpen type arm at this stage.
2/10/19
Body Type: Average frame for his age at 5-foot-11, 160-pounds Swing Mechanics: Very fluid, efficient load that creates balance and separation at foot stroke.
Hit: Smooth, easy stroke on a slightly downhill path. Good athlete with a nice combination of strength and speed to hands while projecting for both tools to play up with maturity. Also showed the ability to find the barrel in BP.
Power: 77 mph exit velocity. Line drive guy with gap abilities.
Offensive Projection: Multiple Roles.
Run: 7.2 60-yard dash. Field: Quick, short feet in the outfield in his approach. Shows average to slightly above average ball skills during play through. Athleticism shows.
Throw: 76 mph arm strength to home plate. Long, slinging arm action that projects for more strength.
