8.42
Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Body Type: 5-foot-6 180-pound prospect with average build.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Quicker tempo with a little funk in the delivery. Big rocker and high leg lift. Gets on line with level shoulders. Uses a short arm action working through a ¾ slot.
Fastball: 68-72 mph fastball works on a downward plane with cutting action.
Curveball: 60-61 mph breaking ball has a big 1/7 shape with gradual break.
Changeup: N/A
Pitchability: Presently only offers two pitches. Was a bit erratic with the fastball. Did show the ability to put the breaking ball in the zone.
1/21/19 Body Type: 5-foot-6 180-pound prospect with average build.
Swing Mechanics: Left-handed hitter with a simple approach mechanically. Uses a hands back load during short stride for timing.
Hit: Balanced swing with feel for the barrel. Generates natural backspin to all fields. Strength plays a slightly bigger role in stroke than speed but not by much.
Power: 75 mph exit velocity. Line drive guy who will grow into gap abilities.
Offensive Projection: TBD.
Run: 8.42 60-yard dash.
Field: Looks confident and smooth over at first base. Plays with feel and above average ball skills.
Defensive Projection: 1B.
1/15/18
Ran a 8.58 60-yard dash. At first base he plays low and fast off the bag. Looked comfortable at the position. Glove is reliable, and he made all the plays in his defensive eval. Showed off 63 mph arm strength across the diamond. At the plate the lefty starts his pre launch movements with a smooth leg lift timing trigger. Goes with a slight back load with his hands prior to swing decision. Barrel accelerates early and has solid direction at contact. The combination of path, feel, and direction allow him to find the barrel often and produce backspin. A candidate to grow into some loft power as he matures physically. Reached a top exit velocity of 70 mph. On the mound the left-hander uses a belt high lift before loading into the backside. Aggressive hop into his stride, shows good direction. Uses a short arm action working through a high-¾ slot. Fastball worked at 62-64 mph with cut. Breaking ball was the best secondary offering. A 1/7 curveball with developing depth at 57-59 mph. Also featured a changeup, the pitch is thrown with fastball arm speed. At 61-62 mph, the pitch shows regular cut.
