Notes

Comments

1/13/19 Pitching
Body Type: RHP prospect has a medium, athletic frame.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes:
Threw from a ¾ arm slot and used his long levers well to create extension towards home plate. Ball seemed to jump.
Fastball:
77-78 mph fastball was pretty true through the zone. Some slight arm side life at times.
Curveball:
56-59 mph breaking ball showed decent shape and spin. Currently slows down his arm speed quite a bit on the pitch.
Pitchability:
Showed a lot more confidence and conviction throwing his fastball as opposed to being a little tentative with his breaking ball. Still showed adequate command of both.
Role:
Future role will depend on the ability to develop a changeup and refine his breaking ball. Breaking ball showed good potential if he will increase the intensity at which he throws the pitch.

1/13/19
Body Type:
6-foot-1, 176-pound projectable, physical frame.
Swing Mechanics:
Fluid load, using an easy leg lift as hands stay simple through pitch recognition and into swing decision.
Hit: Swing travels on an uphill path to contact with a bit more strength than speed to hands at this stage. Ball jumps when barrel gets running start. Strength is top tool.
Power:
89 mph exit velocity. Middle of the Lineup type skill set if swing can tighten up when bat speed arrives.
Offensive Projection:
Middle of Lineup.
Run:
4.69 H-st.
Field:
Plays under control with a two-handed play through. Slows momentum a bit at fielding to ensure ball security.
Throw:
77 mph arm strength to home plate. Accurate with some strength to it and more to come.
Defensive Projection:
Corner Outfield.

2/17/18

6-foot-1, 176 pound prospect has a taller, lean build. Sloan throws from a ¾ slot with a shorter arm action and provides excellent use of his lower half to drive downhill force. Mechanics flowed well as tempo remained consistent allowing him to throw a solid three-pitch mix. FB sat 78-82 and was in the zone. His SL was 64-66 with solid run to it and command. CH at 70-71 had downward run to it that came late and accurate. Good build and arm that can only improve as he puts on more size. Offensively his hands get to a nice load producing a level bat path. He made average contact squaring a couple up in his round producing a 86 mph exit velocity showing some nice pop. At third base he showed average hands fielding it well. Actions were stiff . Footwork is developing in speed. Threw 79 mph across the diamond with accuracy.

7/12/17
Defensively, his footwork is developing. Tends to field the ball on his heels. Receives the ball in the middle of his body. Funnels the into his chest prior to transfer. Throws from a 3/4 arm slot with average arm strength. A right-handed hitter that starts in a wider setup. Uses a fluid leg lift load to get his lower half involved. Hands are simple prior to launch. Path is level with developing bat speed. A strong kid who swings with intent. Ball comes off his bat well when he found the barrel. Should grow into a middle of the lineup type guy as he fills out his projectable frame. On the mound the right-hander brings project ability. Delivery is fluid and require some effort. Arm action is long back with developing arm speed. Fastball stayed mostly true through the zone, working downhill at times. Spins an 11/5 shaped breaking ball that showed signs of sharpness. Looked confident in the offering. Also showed a changeup, maintaining fastball arm speed. The pitch showed late dive at times.
FB: 74-79
CB: 60-63
CH: 72-73
60-yard dash: 7.45
Infield Velocity: 78
Exit Velocity: 81
