1/21/19 Body Type: 6-foot-3, strong/physical 190-pound frame.
Swing Mechanics: Balanced stance prior to an easy backload with hands during knee pinch timing trigger with lower half.
Hit: Big, physical presence in the box. Balanced swinger with an aggressive stroke. Swings with intent to do damage. Path plays, finding plane early and allowing for expansion through contact.
Power: 83 mph exit velocity. Strength jumps out at you in swing and bat speed isn’t far behind. Both tools are advanced for class and project to the next level. Ball flies off his bat. Legit power potential here and a guy that shows scholarship tools in the box.
Offensive Projection: Middle of lineup/Run producer.
Run: 7.84 60-yard dash.
Field: Frame plays in the corner. Worked out a third base today. Smooth actions that allows him to remain under control through fielding. Attacks the ball of the bat with direct footwork with hands showing some softness at fielding. Average defender that I could see growing to an above average defender down the road.
Throw: 79 mph across the diamond. Arm was his top tool defensively. Ball comes out well showing carry across the diamond. Almost all throws were on the money.
Defensive Projection: 1B/3B
Additional Comments: Really looks the part physically and BP was loud. A guy that has really improved since the last time we saw him.
1/21/19 Pitching Body: 6-foot-3 190-pound projectable frame with and average build.
Mechanics/Delivery Notes: Easy delivery with some deceptive qualities. Works in good direction using a long arm action and ¾ slot.
Fastball: 76-81 mph fastball that is mostly straight working on a downward plane.
Curveball: 61-65 mph breaking ball that varied shapes and plays more as a slurve with gradual break.
Pitchability: Has pretty good feel for the fastball working it to both sides of the plate. Breaking ball was in the zone enough, although a consistent shape and tighten up the spin is needed. Didn’t offer a changeup at this time.
Role: As a two-pitch pitcher a bullpen role is likely in the future for this prospect. However, with his build and ease of the delivery, developing a changeup could open up opportunities as a starter down the road.
1/15/18
Ran an 8.08 60-yard dash. A long-limbed prospect with room to add strength. Brings upside on the mound and at the plate. On the bump the right-hander maintains tempo to his delivery that requires little effort. Arm works well through a high-¾ slot, generating above average arm speed. Ball comes out well with his fastball sitting 72-75 mph. Breaking ball showed signs of sharpness, moving on an 11/5 plane at 58-61 mph. Also showed a changeup that had some run to it at 67-69 mph. Would like to see him regularly maintain arm speed on secondary offerings. In the infield his frame fits the third base position. Actions are athletic and he plays with confidence through the baseball. Ball skills are above average for class. Displayed enough arm for the left side at this stage at 72 mph. At the plate he starts in a taller setup prior to getting into his leg kick load. Creates solid separation/balance by taking hands back during his stride forward. Strength stands out at contact, generating impressive pop to both gaps. Should grow into power with maturity and as he adds loft to swing. Reached a top exit velocity of 79 mph.
