Gunner Kalkhoff: C/SS, (2022) LaSalle, OH. 6-foot-2, 200-pound. In the box, Kalkhoff recorded an exit velocity of 87 mph. Starts in a balanced stance with a smooth load, then uses a controlled stride. Has above average bat speed, level loose swing plane and good extension on his finish. He barreled up multiple balls during the round. Gap to gap approach. While catching, he made throws to second at velocities up to 74 mph. Solid in the infield, his best throw was registered at 79 mph; had a quick exchange, sure hands, and consistent footwork. Behind the plate, his best throw downs of the day reached a max velocity of 74 mph; had a pop time of 2.09-2.22. Showed consistent accuracy to the base and a high ¾ slot.
Hit:Physical presence in the box at 6-foot-2, 197-pounds. Advanced tools/pop for class. Starts in an open setup before squaring up through a leg kick timing trigger. Hands move slightly back prior to accelerating the bat through the zone on a very efficient path. Strength shows up at contact where the bat gets through the ball with ease. Loud BP, topping at 91.8mph.
Power:Easy gap pop.
Offensive Projection:Middle of lineup.
Field:Rangy defender that can make plays all over the infield. Ideal left side of the infield candidate. Also showed athleticism behind the dish where has several tools to work with. Solid defender.
Throw:Clean arm with above average strength.
Defensive Projection:3B/C.
6-foot-2, 175-pound athletic, projectable body frame. From behind the dish he has fluid footwork with a clean exchange and arm action through a high ¾ slot. Pop times ranged from 2.13-2.24 and reached a velocity of 70 mph. Had a strong showing in the infield keeping his feet active with fluidity playing through the baseball. Has good glove skills fielding with soft hands out in front of his body reaching a velocity of 72 mph. Right-handed hitter showed strength during his round of BP with the ability to hit the ball to all parts of the field. Starts his swing from an open stance landing back to even at foot strike. Has a fluid load with his hands moving just past his back shoulder before he swings with a mostly level bat path through the zone and finishes with a two-handed follow through reaching an exit velocity of 88 mph. Ran an 8.03 60-yard dash.
