12/2/18 On the mound Gillen showed an athletic build. His delivery creates some natural deception while throwing from a low ¾ arm slot. His fastball was 77-80 mph and pretty true through the zone. His breaking ball was between 67-69 mph and showed a tumbling action and some lateral break. His changeup was 68-70 mph and true through the zone. Gillen showed good body awareness and athleticism in his swing. He utilized a toe tap load and used his hips well to generate natural bat speed. He seemed to have strong wrists and quality barrel control. Fluid defender up the middle of the infield. Looks comfortable and smooth with the glove. 1/18/16 5-foot-4, 125-pound wiry, athletic frame. On the mound the righty had good tempo with a repeatable delivery that requires some effort. Uses a high, controlled leg lift to gain momentum towards home plate with good direction. Showed good arm speed from a loose, high 3/4 slot with his fastball sitting 69-71 mph. His curveball was his best off-speed pitch with sharp downward movement at 58-59 mph. Also mixed in a playable, 58-59 mph changeup that he was able to keep down in the zone.
