Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Body Type: 5-foot-10, 170-pound athletic frame. Swing Mechanics: Balanced, open stance from the right side. Fluid hands back load during his knee pinch move with lower half. Hit: Quick bat on a slightly downhill path to contact. Swing stays compact through the zone. Generated natural ball flight to the middle of the field. Much, much improved since we saw him last year. Power: 86 mph exit velocity. Line drive guy with gap abilities. Offensive Projection: TBD. Run: 7.77 60-yard dash. Field: Direct footwork, fielding from heels in funnel. A bit raw actions wise in the infield but he showed some ball skills. Also worked out behind the dish where he recorded pop times of 2.15-2.21. Throw: 75 mph across the diamond and 69 mph from the crouch. Long arm action with above average arm speed for class. Ball comes out well. Defensive Projection: C, Could see a move to outfield with his athleticism/arm strength.
Body Type: 5-foot-10, 170-pound RHP with average, physical athletic pitching build.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Starts crooked in the windup, almost like he’s in the stretch. Has a nice tempo when going through his motion and then has a quick twitch when the ball is released. Utilizes his lower half well, drives off back leg.
Fastball: FB is straight and commanded well at 74-76 mph.
Curveball: CB has good depth and can be thrown for strikes at 66-67 mph.
Splitter: Splitter is developing but has good spin 62-64 mph.
Changeup: CH has decent drop at 67-68 mph.
Pitch ability: Has good command of FB, with the ability to throw 3 different off-speed pitches around the plate.
Role: Starter/Reliever
Additional Comments: Good weight transitions. Quick ¾ arm slot delivery. Tends to finish high towards the end of his delivery.
2/14/18
A middle infielder that uses direct, quick footwork to attack the baseball. Actions are quiet with soft hands through fielding. Arm shows signs of more strength in the tank. Will need to improve lateral mobility to stay up the middle at the next level. At the plate he starts in a taller setup from the right side. Shows a back load with hands as he uses a knee pinch to create energy with lower half. Swings has downhill tendencies with a balanced combination of strength and bat speed to hands. A contact type guy with pull side tendencies. Really drove the low pitch well. Should have more in the tank as physical maturation takes its course. On the mound the right-hander has a slower paced tempo to his low effort delivery. Presently sits 70-73 mph but with his clean, loose arm expect that number to change as the young prospect matures physically. Spins two different breaking balls. The 11/5 shaped curveball has bigger action with the slider offering a tighter look with more present depth. Does a nice job of using different planes with the offerings. Also showed developing feel for a changeup that had some dive to it at 65-68 mph.
60-yard dash: 8.31
Infield Velocity: 74
Exit Velocity: 79
