5-foot-8, 155 pound left-handed infielder put together a strong performance with a smooth level swing that stayed in the zone long leading solid contact often. Lawson’s fast hands are aided by his strong lower half to produce some good power for his size. He also recorded an 81 mph exit velocity. Jake’s offensive tools separates him from his peers and will create an opportunity to play at the next level. Defensively, his hands work well as a middle infielder. Footwork has some choppiness to it at times, but will improve as he better uses his athleticism. Made routine plays and also demonstrated ability to throw well from different angles as he was taken to his glove side and back hand. Top velocity of 77 mph across the infield.
5-foot-5, 129-pound wiry frame. At the plate he starts in a wide, slightly open set up. Uses a toe turn to start his lower body movement while taking his hands slightly back. Takes an uphill path to the ball. Lead off type of hitter. Reached a top exit velocity of 74 mph and ran a 4.62 from home to first. In the infield he showed off quick footwork with the ability to field the ball out in front of his body. Is able to remain low on the move. Arm is below average at this stage but should develop as he matures.
