Curveball: Slurvey type 10/4 shape with some bite. Shows good depth and side to side movement. Curveball Spin Rate: 2044-2115. Changeup: Offers a developing changeup. Thrown with fastball-like arm speed and some drop.
6/18/19
Body Type: 5-foot 10, 176-pound athletic, stronger build Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Quick tempo high leg kick mid-effort delivery. True ¾ slot delivery with loose arm action and a low dive and drive motion toward the plate. Good feel for his body with solid direction and energy toward the plate. Fastball: 75-77. Stays in and around the zone. More velo to come down the road 1800-2000 rpms. Mid 90s efficiency which yields through the zone. Average to above average command. Curveball: 65-67. 10/4. Spins off the breaker with late tight break. Occasional side to side action with room to develop down the road. Pitchability: Room to development of both offerings, average for his class but expected velo increase in the future.
1/24/19 Pitching
Body Type: 5-foot-10, 182-pound average frame.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Easy delivery with a clean arm and first base side finish. Does a nice job of repeating his delivery. Slinging arm action through a near ¾ slot
Fastball: 75-77 mph. Ball jumps out of hand with very minimal effort. Loose arm that projects for much more strength. Could easily see a velocity jump in his future.
Curveball: 65-68 mph. More spin than action at this stage. Pitch moves on a 10/4 plane with depth. Was able to crate heavier action when he started it on the plate and ran it out of the zone.
Changeup: 70-72 mph. Still developing feel for the offering. Playable pitch with in the zone.
Pitchability: Fastball/Breaking ball were in the zone for the most part, change was a bit more inconsistent.
Role: TBD. A tweener now. Physically looks like a starter with lower effort delivery and flashes of all three pitches in the zone. How velo and secondary offerings develop will likely determine future role.
1/24/19 Body Type: 5-foot-10, 182-pound average frame. Swing Mechanics: Tall setup from the right side. Hands show a back load during his short stride. Hit: Balanced launch with a level path to contact. Barrel has some lag through the zone. Used all fields in BP with more natural ball flight to the middle of the field. Strength plays a bigger role than bat speed in swing presently. Power: 85 mph exit velocity. Already has gap abilities with more to come. Offensive Projection: Ball mover who has sneaky pop. Run: DNR. Field: Plays under control approaching the baseball. Quiet feet with soft hands. Ball skills are above average for class. Throw: 72 mph across the diamond. Clean arm action through high-¾ slot. More strength to come with maturity. Defensive Projection: Additional Comments:
2/14/18
Put together an impressive performance on the mound. Shows above average arm strength for class with a loose, whippy arm that projects for more. His near ¾ slot gives his 76-78 mph fastball natural arm side action. Expect more velocity down the road. Breaking ball displayed sharp action on a 10/4 plane at 63-64 mph. Maintains arm speed on his changeup that has a similar look to his fastball out of the hand at 72-75 mph. A strike thrower that should only get better as he matures physically. At third base he shows quiet actions while using direct footwork on plays in funnel. Tends to play from heels at times. Looks to have feel for the spot with average to slightly above average ball skills for class. Also worked out at shortstop where he showed a similar skills set. Presently has a higher ceiling at third base. Arm is very loose, projecting for more strength as he matures. Swings it from the right side starting in an athletic setup. Goes with a leg kick for timing/energy while using a slight back load with hands. Swing works on a downhill plane showing a two-handed finish around front shoulder. Natural tools are developing with a contact type look to him at this stage.
