2/9/20 Pitching Delivery Notes: Blackburn showed an athletic frame and build that still has projection remaining. On the mound he showed a methodical tempo with ‘drop and drive’ elements. He threw from a high ¾ arm slot. Fastball: Fastball was 80-85 mph with some sink and fade at times. Fastball Spin Rate: 1540-1590 Curveball: Breaking ball was 66-69 mph and showed as an overhand curve type of pitch. Did seem to ‘pop’ out the hand at times. Curveball Spin Rate: 1640-1680 Changeup: Changeup showed at 77-78 mph. Pitchability: Good feel for his three pitch mix. Shows overall good athleticism and strength in his delivery. Could potentially benefit from cleaning up his arm action. Definitely more velo in the tank.
2/9/20 Position Player Hit:Right-handed hitter that starts in a balanced stance. Uses a slight back load during knee pinch timing trigger. Downhill path with more strength than speed presently. Ball jumps when squared. Power:Gap abilities. Offensive Projection:Middle. Field:Rangy defender that has above average lateral mobility. Hands work. Throw: Multiple spots. Ball comes out well. Defensive Projection: Multiple Spots.
9/17/17 On the bump the right-hander has a slower paced tempo to a delivery that requires some effort. Goes with a high leg lift prior to his drop and drive load. Lands in line at foot strike with his momentum carrying him to the first base line at finish. Works through an over the top slot with developing arm speed. Offers a three pitch mix with his fastball sitting 70-71 mph. Breaking ball has gradual break on a near 11/5 shape. Looks confident with the pitch and threw it with intent. Also showed a playable changeup that had a similar look to his fastball.
