Maxton Brunner: 1B/RHP, (2024) Canal Winchester, OH. 5-foot-11, 190-pound. (64.4 mph bat speed average). (18.9 mph hand speed average). Began in a balanced quiet stance with a compact load, then used a quick stride. Bat speed is efficient, has a short simple swing plane and high finish. Solid in the infield, displayed a velocity of 73 mph; has a natural exchange, soft hands, and consistent feet. Laterally, movements were athletic and fielded the ball out front. Had a consistent arm action and a high ¾ slot. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.14. On the mound, showed consistent arm speed with a high ¾ arm angle and a loose arm action. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and shows some effort. Has slight running action. (Max spin 1824; Avg 1764). Threw a 10/4 slider with late action. (Max spin 1942; Avg 1755).
Hit: Good athlete who swings it from the right side. Upright setup followed by an efficient, fluid load, In/out path that works well up the middle of the field. Showed his loudest pop to pull side. Much more juice to come as strength arrives with maturity. Definite follow.
Power: Flashed gap abilities. Above average burst for class.
Offensive Projection: Multiple Roles.
Max BP Exit: 82mph.
Max BP Distance: 295ft.
Field: Worked out at first base. Quick feet over there with above average lateral mobility. Good athlete with ball skills. All the tools to be an above average defender.
Throw: Above average strength.
Defensive Projection: 1B
Scouting Notes: Athletic look to him on the mound. Works with good rhythm and has feel for his movement patterns. Lower slot with entire repertoire coming out of a sidearm slot. Fastball and breaking ball tunnel well. Fastball has some run/dive to it and breaker darts across the zone with more horizontal than vertical action. Changeup has decent sell with similar look to the fastball out of the hand.
