Begins in an athletic quiet stance with a small load, then uses a quick stride. Bat speed was efficient, used a simple upward swing plane and high finish. Solid while in the infield, registered his best throw across the diamond at 76 mph; had consistent footwork, soft hands, and a natural exchange. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. While catching, his best position velocity throwing to second was registered at 75 mph; showed a natural transfer, consistent feet, and sure hands. recorded a pop time of 2.01-2.11. Some flexibility and quiet setup. Showed a high ¾ slot with a quick arm action. In the 60-yard dash, his time was 7.89.
Morgan Twyford: C/3B, (2023) Olentangy Orange, OH. 5-foot-11, 185-pound. Solid during batting practice, Twyford's best exit velocity was 86 mph. Started in an athletic stance with a smooth controlled load, then used a small leg kick. Bat speed was efficient, and displayed a level swing plane. He found multiple barrels during his round. Line drive approach. Solid in the infield, recorded a position velocity of 73 mph; showed a natural exchange, consistent hands, and athletic feet. Behind the plate, throw downs to second were maxed at 73 mph; has average feet, a developing exchange, and consistent hands. Recorded pop times of 2.06-2.15. Has calm setup.
Hit:Swings it from the right side where he has a fluid, repeatable load. Level path with obvious strength inside storke. Bat speed also plays as an above average tool. Ball comes off well. Very solid round with consistent backspin to the middle of field.
Power:Easy gap abilities.
Offensive Projection:Middle of lineup.
Field:Worked out at third base. plays with an uptempo pace to all directions. Hands work/ball skills are on par for class. Also worked out behind the dish. Physical presence back there with block/receive abilities on par for class. Arm was an above average tool. Expect pop times to get better as footwork/exchange speeds up.
Throw:Loose arm, through classic high-3/4 slot.
Defensive Projection:C/Corner.
2/17/20 Position Player
Hit: Right-handed hitter that starts in a balanced stance. Uses a smooth leg lift with quiet hands to the loading sequence. Downhill stroke with a bit more physicality than speed to stroke. Worked the middle of the field in BP.
Power: Line drive pop.
Offensive Projection: TBD.
Field: In the infield he plays with a controlled tempo throughout sequence. Not flashy but appear to be sure-handed. Also worked out behind the dish. Showed developing catch/throw abilities popping between 2.23-2.31.
Throw: High-3/4 righty with average strength.
Defensive Projection: Corner guy.
