6’2, 195-pound prospect. At the plate the left-handed initiates his pre launch movements with a short stride. Swing sequence is simple, letting his natural tools work. Creates consistent timing and showed feel for the barrel. Strength stands out in his swing. His slightly uphill path gives him some loft juice. Middle of the lineup guy with power potential. A first baseman with an ideal frame for the spot. Moves off the bag well, showing above average lateral mobility. Ball skills are above average and he has obvious feel for the spot. Has the tools to play the position at the next level. On the bump, the left-handed pitching project brings a physical frame. Uses an easy leg lift to his tall and fall delivery. Arm works well with some looseness to it. Should see easy increases in velocity once he learns to utilize his lower half more frequently. Did a nice job of being consistently in the zone with his three-pitch mix. Fastball was heavy, showing occasional arm side run. Changeup was one of, if not the best we saw all day. Throws the pitch firm, using fastball arm speed. The pitch showed late, heavy sink. Looked to be his go to secondary offering. Also spins a playable breaking ball. The spinner works on an 1/7 plane with signs of sharpness.

Nate Causey showed off an advanced approach and feel for the barrel during his batting practice round. Causey has a fluid swing from the left side, consistently produced line drives to all fields. Defensively, he showed feel for the first base position. Gets off the bag well and plays with confidence. Glove skills are above average for the position. On the mound the southpaw has a slower tempo to his delivery. Stays tall at balance point and lands in line to home plate. Arm is action is clean with some looseness to it. Fastball currently sits 73-76 mph but expect velocity to increase with maturity. His best off speed offering was his 67-69 mph changeup. The pitch showed late fade and he was able to maintain fastball arm speed.
