The Midland coaching staff will be fielding multiple calls from college coaches after Byron’s performance. Works from stretch. Very smooth, varies tempo, everything works. One of the higher spin rate guys of the day, making his velocity play up. One of those fastballs you can hear, hissing through the zone at 82-85 mph. The Milford product spun not one but two of the top breaking balls we saw on the day, according to the naked eye and Rapsodo. The slider came in at 74-77 mph and the curve was 71-72 mph, both breakers making some of the best hitters in the state look baffled.

Body Type: 6-foot-1 185-pound left-handed pitching prospect with an average build. Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Work out of the stretch. Compact delivery with a slight pause prior to stride. Uses some effort working out of a low-3/4 slot. Fastball: 80-83 mph fastball jumps out of the hand with some late sink and run to the arm side. Curveball: 67-71 mph curveball has some sharpness to it. Pitch tunnels with the fastball and has 1/7 shape. Slider: 72-73 mph slider works on a 2/8 plane with tight spin and short break. Pitchability: Solid three pitch mix. Showed good control of the fastball which looks sneaky fast. Feel for both breaking ball, curveball is the better of the two and should develop into an above average offering. Role: Lack of a changeup likely lands him in the bullpen.
