Mendonza, an infielder for the Ontario Terriers showed well during the New Year Open. It’s a 5-foot-9, 155-pound frame with some current strength and athleticism. The actions in the infield are solid, he displays range side-to-side and was up to 75 mph across. The bat works short to the baseball and is contact-oriented. There’s some feel in the box and potential to contribute offensively at the next level. He’s an interesting name to follow in the 2020 class.
a 2020 Right-handed hitting Shortstop showed a clean swing with a good load and separation in BP, spraying line drives and letting his hands control the barrel. The athletic Shortstop showed exceptional footwork and hands on the infield which should play well at the next level. Mendonza was 75 across the diamond and had an 80 mph exit velo off the tee. With time to add strength this off season, Mendonza is a player to watch with the Ontario Terriers this summer as it's versatile on the defensive side and the bat should come as he matures and see strength gains.
