2028 C Austin Burton (Fieldhouse Pirates) is one of the top catchers within his class in Ontario and he’s physically advanced for his age, standing at 6-foot-2, 205-pounds. The 2024 Junior Future Games alum showcased more hit than power on the day which is encouraging as we know the juice is in there. Generated a peak exit velocity of 93mph (82mph avg), peak distance of 332ft (184ft avg), 22% Hard Hit%, Sweet Spot% of 46% and Line Drive% of 41%. The Blast Motion data showed average bat speed of 61.5mph (66.4mph avg), average hand speed of 19.1mph (20.4mph avg) and average on-plane efficiency of 75%. 13th-ranked player in Ontario’s 2028 class and 2nd among catchers, Burton will be a prospect schools need to follow as we approach August 1st and beyond.

C/RHP Austin Burton is one of the top positional players in the 2028 class and the strength stands out for his age at 6-foot-2, 185-pounds. Big presence behind the dish with arm strength at 73mph, leading to pop-times of 1.95 - 2.12. He was also up to 82mph on the infield. Burton’s real impact comes with the left-handed bat where he generated a peak exit velocity of 89.1mph and average of 83mph, as well as a Sweet Spot% of 56% and Line Drive% of 50%. It was one of the more consistent rounds we saw on the day and Burton continues to mature and get better each time we see him.

Burton is one of the stronger players in the class right now and still has room to continue filling out at 6-foot-1, 165-pounds. There’s some bat speed from the left-side with power potential going forward, already generating exit velo’s in the 90s with distances at 300+. A Catcher to follow in the class going forward with a personal best pop-time of 2.07s and throws at 69mph.
