04/08/18 - With a need to continue to improve his athleticism on the mound, Ambrogio has made some strides over the offseason. Expected to lead the 18U Badgers pitching staff in the summer, the six-foot right-hander has upped his fastball a few ticks to 86mph. Fastball shows late downward action, with some arm-side run. Curveball remains best pitch with sharp 12/6 hook. Starting to show more of a feel for his changeup and his new slider is starting to make good progress. Ambrogio is able to spot all of his pitches for strikes and can induce a lot of ground balls with his ability to avoid barrels. Overall, the 2018 classman, must focus on improving his body, but shows the tools on the mound that should allow him to remain on the radar of college coaches heading into the summer.

Connor Ambrogio is a big right-handed pitcher with a projectable frame, strong lower half, and good athleticism for his size. Still baby-faced, Connor has a lot of room to add size and muscle as he continues to develop as a pitcher.
On the mound, Ambrogio throws from a high 3/4 slot with clean arm actions. Fastball sits between 80-84mph with late arm-side run. Able to pitch downhill and keep his FB down and generate a lot of soft contact. Curve ball is Connor's put-away pitch. Late 12/6 break with a sharp hook, that Connor can locate consistently for strikes. To this point he is a two-pitch pitcher, but is starting to show a feel for his changeup and is beginning to develop a slider as well.
Has good mound presence and feel for pitching, not afraid to shake off the catcher. Good teammate off the field.
Moving forward, Ambrogio must focus on getting more athletic, lengthening his stride length, and being more consistent with his delivery, but otherwise is a promising young prospect who will be a pitcher to follow next season.
