6-foot, 140-pound infielder, Mattes is a member of the Toronto Mets. A switch hitter, Mattes shows ability from both sides of the plate. It's loose, it's a clean path with extension through the hitting zone from the left-side. From the right side, it's more of an inside out, contact-oriented swing. In the infield, the actions are clean, his hands work well, and he moves comfortably with athleticism and range. He’s a 7.10 runner and can be a threat on the bases. Mattes is a name to follow in the 2021 class.
