Koomen started his day by running one of the best 60-times (7.19). Our staff got our first real look when he was fielding ground balls at first base and the left-handed immediately caught our attention. Koomen has a quick arm from a low ¾ arm slot and his mid 70s fastball, top 77, looks to play up. He had feel for a pair offspeed pitches, a curveball and an effective changeup, and moved well on the mound. Koomen is off to Guelph University in the fall and is showing the makings of an effective left-hander out of the Gryphons bullpen.
