2022 OF Rochne Beecham (Wilsonville, OR)- 5-foot-10, 185-pounds, lean compact frame, present strength. Left-handed hitter, sets up in a sturdy slightly open stance with neutral weight distribution. Transfers weight to back heel with an early leg lift, gliding slightly above the ground. Loads the barrel vertically to the back foot with some stiffness in the elbows. Short swing with pull approach, cut off finish, created above average bat speed with his twitchy hips & natural strength, 91.68mph exit velocity. Displayed some quickness with some decent jumps on the base paths as well as running a 7.28 60-yard dash. Choppy footwork in the OF, direct lines to the baseball. Slows down a bit as he approaches the ball with lengthy transfer & limited momentum creating average arm strength & carry at 74mph. Has the athleticism for some refinement defensively.
6/17/20
Beecham built on a strong initial showing back in February by flashing impressive straight line speed in the 60 and continued to show a quick barrel from the left side. Averaged 18.4g of rotational acceleration during his BP session, showing off his athleticism and the ability to create bat speed easily. Transitioned from a low leg lift into a toe-tap type load that keeps him tall and upright throughout. Continues to show best contact middle/oppo but did flash occasional pull-side pop. Also excels on the gridiron and his footspeed should play well in the OF. Can lengthen out strides as needed but also has ability to shorten up and breakdown with his footwork while approaching the ball. Consistent arm path from a low ¾ release
2/22/20
Strong, compact frame with a sturdy build at 5-foot-10, 180 pounds. Tall, narrow stance in the box with upper and lower half aligned towards the pitcher. Shows slight crouch in posture as he begins low leg kick. Has some quick movement in hands to adjust barrel angle prior to landing. Noticeable quickness in his swing with a short path into contact. Strong, compact levers allow him stay inside of the ball. Generated hard contact up the middle during BP. Moves well in the outfield with short, clean footwork. Showed feel for understanding tempo of his actions while working through the ball. Stays tall while funneling ball out front of glove side leg. Didn’t get too rushed or aggressive until after he had gotten into his exchange. Full arm path into a low 3/4 release.
