7.47
Infield Velocity
The athlete's maximum throwing velocity from an infield position in the given event year. Measured in miles per hour (MPH).
81.0
Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Physical: Long 5-foot-11, 175-pound frame with lean strength present in the body. 7.47 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Crouched, open stance with the hands showing slight wiggle flat off of the shoulder. Utilized an early leg hang stride in the timing mechanism allowing for advanced feel and control at the plate; the bat head worked through a slight uphill attack with lift after contact, showcased a lofty approach to the LCF gap (60% fly ball rate) getting up to a peak bat-exit velocity of 89 mph. Doubles power at the moment with above-average bat to ball skills, evidenced by a 67% on-plane efficiency per Blast Motion.
Defensively: The primary shortstop worked right to left at the fielding window, beating the ball to the spot with consistency. Stayed low and wide in the base as the glove hand played off of the middle of his body; average pace with good posture throughout; released from a strong, over the top slot yielding an 81 mph arm strength during defensive evaluations.
1/6/18 Hands are above average for age and feet work well to baseball. There is commitment to fielding ball out front with some tendency to work top down. Benefit would be gained from being more aggressive in attacking and playing through baseball.
Offensively, initiates swing from neutral set up with short stride staying neutral. Hands start low and remain so in load. There is limited separation. Hands have tendency to work away from body creating length and arm bar. Early front knee locking results in uphill swing path. Hands are quick, there is solid feel for barrel and leverage to swing. Pending mechanical changes barrel feel suggests potential as offensive player.
On mound, works out of mid 3/4 arm slot. Deception is achieved through hip coil and baseball is difficult to pick up. Vogel shows good balance, stays in line and repeats well. FB sat 58-62 mph with little movement. CB at 55-58 mph had 11-5 shape with rolling action. CH remains work in progress.
