Physical: Highly projectable, athletic 6-foot, 183lb frame; impressive 6.72 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. Upright, even stance, as the barrel rested calmly on the shoulder to begin. Mimics the pitcher’s first move, raising the bat on time with a slight lift and replace stride to initiate the swing. Matched plane and showed occasional lift to the pull-side, gaining extension at the front of the plate. Produced a 97 mph exit velocity and home run during game action, leaving as one of the top hitters at the event. Phased well into a repeated “power-V” position at impact, high intent.
Defensively: The backstop demonstrated a traditional stance in the crouch; pop times ranged 2.18-2.26 with accurate 72 mph arm-strength out of the hand from a moderate H ¾ slot. Used the body to create angles on down pitches, burying over the plate to save free-90’s.
2/13/22
Physical: Highly-touted 6-foot, 178-pounder shows a combination of athleticism and strength. 6.87 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Shoulder-width stance with good body control and a simple trigger in the load. Utilized a short lift and replace stride to initiate the swing through a flat, rotational path into the hitting zone. Recorded a 91 mph bat-exit velocity flashing some of the faster hands in the entire class (26 mph hand-speed) and there’s signs of more coming soon. Good ground connection available for doubles power to the pull-side of the field. Line-drive approach and can lift the ball, if needed situationally.
Defensively: The primary backstop is an advanced defender from left-knee down and traditional setups. Sits low in the crouch with a good level to the target, as pop times worked efficiently, as low as 1.97 on the bag in showcase setting. A quick release and good backside drive assist in the accuracy of the throw from a H ¾ slot. Good blocker too that can shift out laterally and beat the ball to the spot.
7/14/21
Physical: 6-foot-0, 168 pounds; Lean, athletic build. 7.2 runner in the 60. Offensively: RHH. Even setup, with feet wide spread; bat positioned at a 45 degree angle. Short take back with the hands with an up and down stride for timing. Stays behind the ball while showing an average effort from the legs. Showed a downward swing path with a two handed finish. More line drives than flyballs and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 87 MPH via Trackman. Defensively: Starts with a compact setup; static during pre-pitch while stays low while receiving. Hands work through the ball while staying low during transfer. Short take back from a high 3/4 arm slot. 2.28-2.33 pop times. C - 70 MPH.
6/15/21
Physical: Lean, lengthy 6-foot, 168lb frame with lots of projection left in the build. 7.09 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Wide, upright stance with the hands showing quiet rhythm above the shoulder to start. Utilized a short lift and replace stride as the hands initiated through a flat path into the hitting zone. Matched pitch-plane early in ball flight with tight turns over the backside allowing him to get extended with consistency out in front. Posted a T90 mph bat-exit velocity with ready doubles power at the plate (near 280 foot batted ball distance, 30% fly ball rate). Mostly stayed on a line through the middle of the field in the approach and produced big time rotational scores hinting at more power coming in the near future.
Defensively: The primary backstop showcased a low traditional crouch position, receiving well with soft actions on the corners. Pop times ranged from 2.14-2.16 with useful pre-catch rhythm and straight line footwork to the target, replacing quickly/efficiently. Fast and fluid transfers to the ear releasing from H ¾ slot and using the turf on occasion T69 mph arm.
