Notes

Comments

6/13/21

Physical: Strong, athletic 5-foot-11, 190lb frame with feel for his body. 7.12 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH - Upright, open stance with the barrel bouncing under control on the shoulder. Utilized an easy lift and replace stride on time with quick hands entering the hitting zone through a flat path; low finish producing a heavy barrel at impact. Posted a middle/LCF approach during batting practice while hitting into a stiff front side. Notched a 91 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman Baseball and worked his way up to a 337 foot batted ball distance on his loudest swing. Consistent bat-speed (72+ mph average) alludes to the chance to handle increased velocity at the next level while collecting extra-base hits.

Defensively: The primary outfielder showcased well during defensive evaluations, reading the ball off the bat and sticking the foot in the ground to make decisions. Drop step technique was evident in game action and also threw a runner trying to take an extra base with an outfield assist. Strong, high ¾ slot with carry to the plate (81 mph arm, LF/CF consideration).

2/07/21

Physical: Long and durable 5-foot-11, 190-pound frame with strength to his game; 7.26 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH - Balanced, slightly open stance with the elbow high in the back, utilized a toe tap stride with weight shift into a stiff front side allowing the hands to work through a flat, leveraged position into the hitting zone. Stayed behind the ball well at the plate with a mostly pull-side approach yielding a 91 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman Baseball with an impressive 56% line drive rate. Had the ability to run it out of the yard too with a 348 foot peak batted ball distance. Featured a high power ceiling with a max of 20.6 G’s of rotational acceleration according to Blast Motion. More to come as he continues developing but the floor is there.

Defensively: The primary outfielder timed the approach well at the fielding window with downhill chest angles giving way to a live 82 mph arm strength; moved well laterally and then played towards the target … The third baseman played low to the ground with sneaky range to the glove hand side, quick first step reads off of the bat with confidence on the run. Has a chance to play in the outfield or at the hot corner moving forward; 81 mph arm strength across the diamond.

2/22/20

Showcased a burly and compact 5-foot-10, 172-pound frame with some strength in his actions. The right-handed hitter displayed easy strength utilizing a wide, even setup and lift-and-replace stride to initiate a slightly uphill barrel path into the hitting zone. Created natural lift to the left centerfield gap with ability to make tight turns if need be while contacting the ball regularly in front of the plate. Recorded an 83 mph bat-exit velocity during batting practice and ran a 7.17 60-yard dash. The primary outfielder demonstrated adequate footwork arriving on time to the ball and using a low center of gravity to drive through it yielding accurate 80 mph arm-strength from his position out of a high ¾ arm-slot with a moderate takeaway. The right-handed pitcher sat 76-78 mph with room for more out of a high ¾ arm-slot with a moderate pause in the takeaway. Commanded the zone with the fastball and mixed in a 63-66 mph slider with small horizontal break.
