Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Wider square setup at the plate, small pickup and stride, and lands on line. Hands load back before a longer uphill swing through the zone. Loft built into the swing and showed pull side tendency. Head stays behind at contact and maintains some balance with a wider finish. Exit velocity was 76 mph. Defensively Blatt displayed above average hands, clean exchange, and a full arm circle on hand break. Threw from a three-quarter arm slot with a 76 mph velocity across the infield. Ran a 7.78 60. Starts from a square stance in the windup, side step rocker, and a higher leg lift. Sinks in back leg moving down the mound, shoulders uphill and closed, and lands closed at foot strike. Hands separate away from body, full arm action, flashed some arm speed, and works out of a three-quarter arm slot. Works over a firm front side and spins off towards first base side. Fastball had some nice arm side run at 77-79 mph. Curveball was 66-68 mph and inconsistent around the zone at times. Slider had the looks of a solid secondary pitch. Tight late life, made it happen out front, and played well off the fastball. Slider was 68-71 mph. Changeup had some late fade and sat 67-69 mph.
