85.0
Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
5-foot-10, 165-pound, average athletic frame, well proportioned throughout. A two-way player, played well on both sides of the field. Off the mound, showed well in his one clean inning of work. The delivery is repeatable, hands start high, has a small forward lean in leg raise, could stay back longer. The arm action has average length on the back side, baseball comes out of a high ¾ slot. The fastball was located down in the zone, clocked at 79-81 mph, ball has late life and some hair on it when it reaches the plate. The breaking ball might be his best pitch, consistently threw it for a strike, clocked at 67-72 mph, with it reaching 72 mph, makes me believe there is more in the tank with the fastball. The changeup was clocked at 73 mph, still a work in progress but showed action to arm side. Offensively, hits from the left side, stance is spread out, hands are held slightly higher than shoulder width. The is swing is down to level to up, stays through the baseball and creates lift on the backend of the swing. The tee exit velocity was clocked at 85 mph and he runs above average at 6.99, in the sixty-yard dash. During game play, had real good at bats, got nothing to show for it, but competed at a high level. Defensively, solid routes and angles, arm was clocked at 85 mph, with easy carry and flight to the baseball. Big follow for me.

Arm Velocity-85 MPH
6/20/17
5-foot-9, 145 pounds, average to slightly above average athletic build. Room for improvement. Broad shoulders capable of adding some strength. Strong arm from right field, touching 82 mph. Fluid actions from fielding the ball to letting it go on throws. At the plate, wide base, lift and step with lead leg, wrists get bat head in quickly, level to slight loft built into the bat path. His tee exit velocity was 82 mph. His future is on the mound, with an easy left handed delivery from a high ¾ slot. Good drive with the back leg though not a very long stride. Command still a work in progress as at times can cut himself off. Fastball was up to 79 mph with good movement, running away from righties. Just fastball-curveball right now. Lefty hammer with plenty of vertical drop, a true bat misser and plus pitch. Comfortable using it in any count. Adding a third offering will be important to his development for the next level. Velocity gains and further command expected in next two high school seasons. Already a big time follow.

Exit Velocity: 82 mph
Arm Velocity: 82 mph
7/19/16
Athletic left-handed hitting outfielder with a good skill set. He did not pitch at the event. In the outfield, showed an aggressive approach to the ball, throwing velocity of 80 mph from right field. The arm works clean, fast and he gets rid of it quickly. Ran a 4.3 down the line on a dig to first base. At the plate, hits out of a wide base setup, has a big front foot lift as the ball approaches. Hands are quick at the plate and his direction with the barrel is solid. The bottom half needs to under control as he ages, in order to handle secondary pitches. Strength in the frame will aid his development as well.
