Sophomore right-hander, Mikey Tepper, reached back for a 96 while pitching 93-94 during his Friday relief appearance. The thick-bodied reliever overpowers the baseball and is more thrower than pitcher, but sold a 85-87 changeup with good arm speed and flashed a banger of a breaker at 82-85 mph. He struck out four in 2.1 innings.
7/25/21
Cape Cod- A strong, stocky righty at 6-foot-2, 225 pounds, Tepper threw five shutout innings, allowing just one hit and two walks during his July 23 start against Y-D. His fastball peaked at 96, comfortably sitting 92-94 throughout his 71-pitch outing. It was a bit straight, but well located down in the zone and missed barrels. Early in the game he used a tight 77-80 mph curveball (2600 rpm) as his main breaking pitch, but switched to a short slider at 83-84 in the middle innings. He also showed fair feel for a firm 85 mph changeup.
