9/9/17 - 6-0, 185 pound catcher.  Righty hitter hits from a slightly open, very slightly crouched stance w/ back ear hand location.  Stride w/ proper load.  Inconsistent lower half timing, as he did a double stride and a toe tap in addition to the normal stride.  Lands slightly open.  Above avg bat speed, but really struggled w/ timing due to lower half.  Aggressive approach, likes the ball up in the zone.  At his best, offensively profiles as a gap to gap type hitter w/ some pull power.  Defensively, presents a great target, makes himself big behind the plate.  Athletic receiver w/ soft hands, idea of framing.  Moves well behind the plate w/ ability to pounce on bunts.  Potential for avg arm strength.  Profiles as an all-around type catcher.

6/13/17 - H-1B: 4.68, Position Velocity: 72, Exit Velocity: 86, Pop Time: 2.00-2.13
6’0, 185-pound, RHH is a very solid player and a big part of every team he plays on.  Whitten has a grasp for the game and is the definition of a “gamer.”  He takes a good approach to the plate with a good eye and the selectiveness that’s hard to teach.  Whitten also shows leadership from behind the plate.  He hits from a balanced stance and uses a short stride decent rhythm in his load.  His swing got a little longer in BP than it really is.  He has the ability to work both gaps and finds the barrel a lot.  Defensively, he has good hands and a quick release threw a short arm action.  A cleaner and higher exchange could probably help cut his pop time. Throws were firm and accurate.  Whitten finished 2-4 with a triple and a walk in game play.

2/12/17 - 60 Time: 7.40, Pop Time: 2.02-2.10, Position Velocity:  C-73, Exit Velocity: 85
6-foot-0, 185-pound, RHH hits from a balanced and open stance with some upright posture and slightly higher hand positioning to begin, uses a leg kick and stride with a cock of his hands and barrel to get loaded, lower half fires well but stays tall and can get stuck at times before totally clearing his hips, swing plane is mostly flat through the zone but can get a little steep on pitches kept down, strong frame, squares the ball up well and consistently toward the left-center gap.  Defensively, showed above-average hands and good footwork behind the plate, lower exchange could be quickened, arm action was short through an over-the-top slot.

1/18/16 - 5-foot-11, 165-pound right-handed hitter hits from a tall and slightly open stance, holds his hands at head height and loads them with a little bit of a wrap and slight arm bar, uses a moderate and very early stride to get engaged, okay with lower half, high hand position results in getting a little steep in the swing from time to time, a little long, could develop some gap-to-gap potential, produced a 79 mph exit velocity off the tee.  Defensively, showed average hands and sufficient footwork, 68 mph position velocity should continue to improve, 2.25 pop time was the best he recorded. Also ran a 7.65 60-yard dash.
