8/1/15 - With a fastball that touched 90 mph on multiple occasions, Jarvis showed electric stuff at the PBR Future Games. He mixed in a sharp 74-76 mph breaking ball and showed good feel for his 77 mph changeup throiwn with good arm action. The left-handed hitter shows quick hands at the plate and gets the barrel on plane quickly, keeping it in the zone and extended period of time. He shows good lateral movement at SS in both directions with a big arm across the infield at 93 mph. Jarvis ran a 7.08 60-yard dash.

7/5/15 - Jarvis has emerged as one of the top uncommitted 2017 arms in Tennessee with a fastball that has been up to 89 mph this summer pitching for Knights Baseball. The 6-foot-2, 165-pound RHP has a quick arm, and his upside is obvious. He features a mid-70's power curveball and has good feel for his high-70's changeup. Jarvis will pitch for Team Tennessee at the PBR Future Games.

2020 DRAFT: After being selected in the 37th round by the Yankees as a draft-eligible soph last June, Jarvis turned down a substantial bonus offer and returned to Duke for his junior year, with the goal of boosting his stock into the top rounds. He's done just that with a mid-90s fastball and three better than average secondary offerings. He's a quick-armed righty who physically resembles Jake Odorizzi, now with the Minnesota Twins. The Blue Devil ace repeats his moderate-to-higher effort delivery and has a super quick arm that generates fastballs up to 96 mph, accompanied by plenty of action at the plate. His average fastball release point of 5.62' is not optimal, but he does deliver it with good downward plane from a high slot creating an above average vertical break of 18.6". He's able to change shape and velocity on his 77-79 mph above average curve ball (upper-2300 spin rate), turning it into a mid-80s plus slider. He has another high quality off speed offering in his changeup. It shows good arm side life with a spin rate just under 2000 rpm and he's able to throw it to both sides of the plate. Jarvis is also highly competitive and demonstrates great feel on the bump. With four stellar starts that included a perfect game against Cornell in Week Two, an eleven strikeout, one hit performance against Purdue in Week Three and then closing out the abbreviated 2020 season with another gem at home against Florida State, the bet he placed on himself last summer paid off. An older junior (22.4 years old this summer), he's likely to be selected in the top two rounds when the draft rolls around this summer.

2/28/20: Quick-armed righty is not very physical, with a medium frame and standing closer to 6-foot-1 than his listed height of 6-foot-2, 195 pounds. However, he is athletic and explosive. From a high slot the junior ace is quick twitch and repeats his delivery. He has a super quick arm that generated fastballs up to 94 mph, accompanied by plenty of action at the plate. His average fastball release point of 5.62’ is not optimal, but he does deliver it with good downward plane creating an above average vertical break of 18.6”. He’s able to change shape and velocity on his 77-79 mph above-average curve ball (upper-2300 spin rate), turning it into an 82-84 mph slider when he wants to. He has another quality off speed offering in his changeup. It shows good arm side life with a spin rate just under 2000 rpm and he’s able to throw it to both sides of the plate. However, he does drop his hand slot and drag his arm through often. Something that he will undoubtedly need to correct for the pitch to play at the pro level. Overall, Jarvis is competitive, better than a plus athlete and demonstrates good feel on the bump. With more outings like his Week Two perfect game against Cornell and this week’s 11 strikeout, one hit performance against Purdue, he’s likely to receive consideration in the top two rounds this June. 3/20/19: The son of former major league pitcher and current scout Kevin Jarvis, Bryce stands out for his quality three-pitch arsenal and ability to miss bats with two swing-and-miss secondary pitches. His calling card is his plus changeup at 80-82 mph, with excellent arm speed, tumbling action and wiggle. He throws it confidently against both righthanded and lefthanded hitters, and it's a big reason he has 39 strikeouts in 34.1 innings this year, after racking up 67 strikeouts in 47.2 innings in mostly relief duty as a freshman last year. Jarvis has made big strides since last year with his slider, which has good tilt at 79-82 and flashes solid-average to slightly above. When he commands both secondary pitches, he's very tough, but he got into some trouble against Wake Forest two weeks ago when he struggled to throw both for strikes, though he had more success doing so this weekend at North Carolina. Jarvis pitches at 90-92 mph with his fastball early in games, but he settled in at 89-90 in the middle innings Saturday. His fastball is fairly straight and doesn't miss a lot of bats right now, but he has a clean arm action from a high three-quarters slot and room to add muscle to his 6-foot-2, 185-pound frame, suggesting there's more velocity in the tank as he matures. He also has some wiliness about him, showing the ability to vary his tempo to keep hitters off balance. Jarvis is also very athletic and has a good move to first base. A draft-eligible sophomore, Jarvis has a bright future but must continue to refine his command and control — he has 20 walks in 34.1 innings over seven starts this spring. (Fitt)
