Game Performance

Notes

Comments

11/07/20

6-foot-3, 175-pound two-way prospects out of Science Hill HS.  Well-rounded performance in his showcase debut with a touch more upside on the mound.  Lanky, very projectable frame with plenty of room to add mass and strength.  Simple, quiet delivery with long, loose arm stroke working up to H 3/4 slot.  Strong balance point and good control down the mound, with potential to get more out of lower half.  FB sat 80-83 with average spin rate (Max: 2094 rpm; Avg: 1986 rpm) and decent life. 11/5 action CB at 65-67 with good movement and flashes of sharp bite. 73-74 mph CH rounded out the mix with good velo difference off FB and some depth. Not a S/M offering, but commanded low in the zone, keeping hitters off balanced. He showed feel for all three pitches, which could develop into a good mix after another jump physically. Positionally, projects as corner outfielder with above average speed (7.17 sixty) and uses long legs to cover ground.  Average arm strength at 82 from the outfield, but more in the tank. At the plate, balanced stance with long load and small stride generating average HS bat speed (Avg: 63.9 mph) but good rotational acceleration (Max: 20.3 G). Inconsistencies on barreling up balls, but flashes of pop (Max: 87.9 mph) when he caught it off the barrel.  Some positives in his game at the plate, but improved bat speed and frame control would raise his floor.  Favor him as an arm at the next level, but still time to determine his path.
