6/14/16 - 60 Time: 7.47, Pop Time: 1.90-2.03, Position Velocity:  C-72, Exit Velocity: 78
5'10, 185-pound, LHH hits from a tall and even stance with some relatively high hand positioning in his initial set up.  Uses a conventional stride and a solid hand load to get himself ready to go, lower half gets used well but still stays fairly tall throughout the swing, showed an ability to hit line drives all over the field and to get extended through the ball, can get jammed when upper body leans too far forward in the swing. Defensively, showed above average hands and good footwork at the catching position, used a clean but low exchange to get the ball up and out through a high ¾ release point which produced some good throws to second base.  Mays sat high behind the plate when recording pop times.

1/18/16 - 5-foot-10, 188-pound left-handed hitter hits from a balanced and tall stance, doesn’t use much of a stride as he typically lifts his front foot up and sits it right back down, minor hand load leads to a very short swing and a fairly steep swing path, front side hitter, strong line drive swing produced an 86 mph exit velocity off the tee that could easily be converted into some productive power at the plate.  Ran a 7.25 60-yard dash and flashed a 71 mph position velocity from behind the plate.  Mays popped a 2.07 as his best time showing average hands and decent footwork, gets rid of the ball fairly efficiently. Mays has made the move from the infield to behind the plate and could easily continue to make strides at the position.
6/23/15 - The 5 foot 10, 165-pound prospect posted a 4.38 home to 1st time. Defensively Mays has playable hands, fluid footwork, natural 2B instincts, short arm action, accuracy on throws, average arm strength. Offensively Mays shows average bat speed from the left side and had a 77 mph exit velocity off the tee.  Mays hits from a balance/closed setup, has a short stride, maintains good balance, line drive type hitter with ability to use all fields. Mays went 2-for-4 in game play with two singles and a solid approach at the plate.
