10/24/14 - Small has made significant strides since the early summer. The lanky 6-foot-3, 175-pound Mississippi State recruit sat 87-88 in his relief stint, touching 90 twice in the second inning. Aside from his fastball, he also showed a mid-70s changeup that had arm-side fade, and occasionally dropped in a 70-mph curveball. Small works across his body, and has a choppy, up-tempo, drop-and-drive delivery in which he punches his gloveside to the plate, making for an uncomfortable at-bat.
