9/07/22

Uncommitted, 6-foot-3, 205-lb tall frame w/ present strength and room to add mass. At the plate, tall, slightly open stance w/ quick leg kick and compact load. Generates above average bat speed (T 74; Avg: 71.2) w/ good rotation (T 21.6 G) and controls barrel thru contact. Legit gap to gap power (T 94.3; Avg: 86.1 exit velo), driving balls to the pull side w/ authority (T 361 ft). Defensively, projects as LF, but more intriguing to move to 1B at next level. Lacks speed and range (7.74 sixty) w/ short compact arm action and average arm strength (78 OF velo). Steele is a bat-heavy prospect with some question marks on position, but he’s been a consistent offensive contributor for Carter over the years.

7/19/22

Uncommitted, 6-foot-3, 205-lb tall frame w/ present strength and room to add mass. Tall, slightly open stance w/ small leg kick and good head/hand separation. Generates above average bat speed w/ legit gap to gap power and driving balls to the pull side w/ authority. Impressive BP round w/ lot of barrels and raw power. Defensively, projects as corner OF or 1B, due to lack of speed (7.72 sixty) and average arm strength (78 OF Velo), but a bat first prospect, who can be a consistent contributor in the lineup.

7/21/20

6’2, 195-pound outfielder showcases a physical frame for a ’23, hinting at an intriguing upside.  Tall, athletic frame w/ high-waist, some present lower half strength, super projectable.  Has just tapped the surface of his frame potential.  Offensively, hits w/ a slightly open, very slightly crouched stance w/ short hand rhythm into short leg kick w/ occasional short hand load.  Pull oriented approach w/ projectable pull power.  Intriguing bat-speed through the zone, intriguing offensive ceiling.  In the OF, profiles as a corner OF w/ clean arm swing and projectable carry to target arm strength, arm-speed is better than the recorded 77 miles per hour, hinting at upside as body matures. On the mound, the righty pitches from a full wind-up into a H ¾ to OTT release.  Falls off to the first base side hard, learning to keep the lower half through and on-line.  FB shows occasional short arm-side run.  Short downer CB flashed proper rotation.  CH w/ short fade and sink.  Sprayed the zone on this day.

9/19/19

6-2, 180. Steele made an appearance on the mound in which he struggled with command while sitting 70-72. Offensively, the physical freshman made his impact felt banging a 3B in to the right centerfield gap showing some opposite field power. As he continues to mature and gain strength, he could be a candidate to develop legitimate HR power on any given swing. In yesterday’s game he made a nice diving play as well to show off another area of his athleticism.
